Matthew Yu is an Assistant Professor at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in the Department of Family Medicine. Out of conviction from his faith, Dr. Yu has chosen to live and practice medicine among communities facing socioeconomic and health inequity. With this focus, he sought Family Medicine training in the Los Angeles County safety-net hospital at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center with an area of concentration in community medicine and adolescent health; he subsequently stayed on as Chief Resident. After seeing the complications of common chronic medical conditions afflict so many of his patients, he decided to pursue a Master's of Public Health from UCLA.

Asha Vitatoe is an Oakland native. She completed her B.A. in African American Studies at Emory University and has worked for non-profit organizations serving youth and young adults from underserved communities and communities of color in Atlanta and Oakland for the past 13 years. Asha is currently the director of Mentoring in Medicine & Science, a health pipeline program based in Oakland with a mission to diversify the health workforce and improve health outcomes for underserved communities. Asha enjoys spending time with her two young sons who keep her very, very busy but very happy.

Dr. Vishnu Reddy is a Pediatric Dentistry resident at UCLA. He graduated with a bachelor’s in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Utah and received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from NYU. After dental school, he trained as a general dentistry resident in Woodhull Medical Center, a public hospital in Brooklyn, and then worked as a general dentist in Western Massachusetts.

Katherine (Katie) Graveline RN, BSN worked as a Community Health Nurse at QueensCare Health & Faith Partnership. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Oregon State University with a degree in Human Development & Family Sciences prior to obtaining her nursing degree at Oregon Health & Sciences University. She has three years of experience working as a cardiac nurse both in the inpatient and outpatient realm, treating patients with a variety of cardiovascular conditions and comorbidities. Katie has a passion for patient education and disease prevention; she hopes to use her career to promote cardiovascular wellness among at-risk populations.

Jake is currently working at the University of California Los Angeles where he manages and coordinates Phase I/II immuno-oncology clinical trials with the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy at UCLA. He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT with a B.S. in Physiology and Neurobiology. After graduating, Jake spent two years at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA, studying the efficacy of immunotherapy drugs in patients with solid tumors.

Sandra is a Los Angeles native who graduated with a B.A. in International Development Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. Since graduating she has volunteered at Peace Over Violence as a Counselor Advocate assisting survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. She currently works as a Research Associate at the Evaluation & Training Institute (ETI), a non-profit research consulting firm specializing in early education. At ETI, Sandra specializes in qualitative research, while also being skilled at running descriptive statistics, data analysis, instrument development, and report writing.

Jessica Arzola is a Registered Nurse on a Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. Her clinical practice majorly consists of helping patients prepare and recover from surgeries such as heart and lung transplantation, valve repairs, lobe resections, and esophagectomies. Jessica graduated from New York University with a BS in Nursing. In addition to being a Gates Millennium Scholar, Jessica was awarded the President’s Service Award upon graduation due to her numerous volunteer efforts with homeless and vulnerable populations within New York City.

Ryan Nguyen is a Mexican-Vietnamese Healthcare Professional currently serving as an Account Manager for Kaiser Permanente, Southern California. He graduated with Honors from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona earning a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration where he went on to serve as the Director of Student Activities, Vice President of the GCU Future Healthcare Administrators Club, and University Ambassador for prospective Honors students. Ryan shifted his career from pre-licensure Nursing to Healthcare Administration, utilizing the professional skills he obtained from his internships to immerse himself in the Administrative and Business Functions of Healthcare Operations.

Vy Le is a 1.5 generation Vietnamese American. She immigrated to the United States with her parents and grew up in the San Gabriel Valley. She is currently the Community Health Educator at the UCI Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, where she works with oncologists and community partners to increase cancer screenings and prevention for the AAPI community in Orange County. At UCI, she developed and currently oversee a service-learning program that provides community-based participatory research opportunities for public health and medical students that focus on cancer health disparities in underserved communities. Vy received her BA in Asian American Studies from the California State University, Fullerton.
